Ben Workman AKA Jumper Maybach
Ben Workman, aka Jumper Maybach, was born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1963. He knew something special had taken place when his grandfather, himself a professional clown, applied a clownface on him the first time at the age of five. It was then, within an instant, that Jumper was born. It would be decades before the world saw Jumper again.
During a painful time in Ben’s adult life, he received a spiritual calling which revived Jumper, and thus, the artistic vision of Jumper’s world began. Through Jumper, Ben released his joy and pain into his artwork, and became the creator of his own vibrant story. Through intense experimentation, the artist developed techniques that lend to a wholly unique and distinct result. His high art embodies joy, compassion, and ultimately, the triumphant strength of the human spirit.
Almost immediately after Jumper’s artistic career began, his work received national and international recognition. In 2013, Ben/Jumper held his first gallery show, which ultimately led to an invitation to attend Art Dubai 2013, UAE as a VIP guest. Jumper exhibited in Dubai, UAE, in 2015 and 2017 at the prestigious ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE. It was while in Paris that the Artist received a documentary film deal and was dubbed the Jackson Pollock of the 21st century. Shortly after visiting Dubai, UAE, Jumper had the opportunity to exhibit 39 large important pieces of work in Venice, Italy in his largest exhibition to date.
He created and curated a Venice series specifically for the show which also included a screening of the trailer to his documentary “The Jumper Maybach Story”. Another momentous career moment occurred when Jumper was invited to exhibit his art at the Gallerie Du Louvre.
Jumper continues his mission of inclusivity and gives back to multiple organizations around the country through both financial and artistic contributions. He and his partner Dr. David Sanford actively support GLAAD, the Human Rights Campaign, the
Matthew Shepard Foundation, AIDS Foundation Houston, the Trevor Project, and many other local and national charities.
For 2019, and for as long as his artistic voice may serve, Jumper will pursue his mission of ending hate, bullying and intolerance through his extraordinary talent. Very recently, he has realized his dream of opening up the Jumper Maybach luxury boutique in Houston’s elite Uptown Park. This has been the culmination of endless support from family, friends, and fellow activists. He and his talented team maintain their commitment and dedication towards this shared mission of happiness and inclusivity for all.
